Not at all.
Not even a little bit.
Nine Firefighters die in Charleston, S. C.
Rest in peace. Your brothers and sisters salute your bravery and your dedication and we mourn your passing.
When every risk's a paper risk/ when every toe and tac and tic is underlined and scored/ I'll bet you're bored.

absolutely true.
And yet poems will probably be a part of how the firefighters are remembered by family and friends.
Unfortunately, James, there are virtually NO poems for firefighters in specific that are any good.
I'm a snob for saying that, I know, but it's true. Most of what's out there is Hallmark reality and childish prayer.
Not to say they don't have their place in the world or that they don't bring comfort to many, but I'd really like to see just one good classic poem for firefighters and/or cops which isn't maudlin, trite or over-blown hyper-rhyme.
I tried writing one once - it came out as all three.
